Keeping the Ten Commandment Law In Its Proper Perspective

Many in the world have grown to revere the “Ten Commandments” even to the extreme. There is a good reason to hold them in high regard and respect them highly because they were the first commands to be written by God. He gave commands before them, and many more after them.

God commanded Adam and Eve to stay away from the tree in the middle of the Garden of Eden, the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God never again gave that law to any human. Why? It was given only to Adam and Eve who had access to the tree but was not allowed to eat of it or even to touch it. (Genesis 3:3)

God commanded Noah to build an ark to His specifications. This commandment was never given to another. It was solely for Noah and his family (Genesis 6:14).

God commanded Abram (Abraham) to leave his kindred and go to a land which He would show him. That command was never given to another person. It was intended solely for Abraham and his family (Genesis 12:1).

Why are we interested in these ancient commands and their purpose and their obedience or lack of it. Each of these individuals had a mission which God intended to have them carry out. No one else was required to carry out these same missions.

Now we come to the subject matter of our article. God, from before the creation, knew that man would be unfaithful and would sin before Him. He proposed a solution whereby man, even though he sinned, could be forgiven of those sins. His plan was far reaching. It involved a savior who would be able to live a sinless life and thereby offer up his physical life for the remission of the sins of others who would be willing to obey Him.

But in the meantime those who lived before the time was right to send the savior, would have to have rules and laws to obey. All of these, like all men since Adam, would fail to live precisely by those laws. And there was nothing whatsoever which could remove those sins until the savior came. But measures would be taken for those whose efforts to live according to His will, would retain their sins until He did come, but would be forgiven by His blood at the time of His death.

Much of God’s instructions to Adam and his descendents are not disclosed in the Bible. There are incidents however which proves they were given rules of living and of reverence and worship to him. Unfortunately most people did not adhere to His instructions and the world became extremely evil. To the point that God found no one who was trying to obey Him other than Noah and his household.

Notice the progression from Adam to Noah to Abraham. Each of these characters, and others mentioned throughout the scriptures, are all setting the scene for the coming of Jesus Christ. Noah built the ark and the flood came 1656 years after the creation. The world was once again cleansed of evil…but only for a short time. Mankind was still living under the patriarchal age and laws.

When man had grown very evil again, God chose Abraham for the purpose of bringing the messiah to mankind through his seed. Now let us proceed fast forward until the year 2513 A.M. after Abraham’s son Isaac and Isaac’s son Jacob was born, God changed Jacob’s name to Israel. Israel had 12 sons who grew into large tribes each and formed the people Israel or Israelites, and referred to as the Jewish nation.

This nation became subject to the Egyptians yet, grew large and powerful while there. They were then miraculously rescued from this captivity by God acting through Moses who was appointed their leader. After their escape they came to Mt. Sinai.

It was here that God Himself engraved the ten commandments in stone and gave to Moses for the Israelites. Only the Israelites were given these commandments and they were only the basis for a vast amount of laws given to them which can be found throughout the books of Exodus, Deuteronomy and Leviticus. This was to be the final phase of man to the coming of the messiah.

This law is referred to as the Old Testament, the Law of Moses, the Ten Commandment Law, and many times simply as the “law”. The law was not given to the heathen, not even the other descendents of Abraham or Isaac. Those other peoples were still under the Patriarchal laws and remained so until the coming of Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. They had almost, with very few exceptions, left the following of God in any manner.

Jesus Christ was born, when the time was right, approximately 4,000 A.M. while the Law of Moses was still in effect. He lived and died under that law and did not sin, proving that it could be done. His purpose was to bring us a law by which all could be saved and have our sins forgotten, the plan mentioned above which was determined before the creation. Now, this is why the Holy Bible is divided into two parts, the Old Testament, and the New Testament. These are sometimes referred to as covenants, wills, laws, and testaments. Jesus Christ taught His law and sent His message to the apostles inspired by the Holy Spirit.

The Old Testament law, Mosaical, could not forgive sins. Strict obedience to it could have one’s sins rolled forward for one year at a time, at the end of which, their sins were again remembered against them. But with Jesus plan, those who obey to the best of their ability, the steps of salvation, their sins will be remitted and remembered against them no more.

What confuses more people than anything else is they cannot understand we are no longer under the Law of Moses. Period. We are under the perfect law of liberty issued in by Jesus Christ Himself. The fact is, some of the things that were in the Law of Moses, are also in the Law of Christ. But not even close to being all of them. The ten commandments were part of the Law of Moses. We are not under the Law of Moses. We are under the Law of Christ. Additionally, 9 of the 10 commandments are included in the Law of Christ in one form or another. But the law of the Sabbath day is not included in His law. No matter what a person tries to tell you, it is not there. Christ arose from the grave on the first day of the week, the inspired apostles met for worship on the first day of the week. It is referred to as the “Lord’s Day” by John in his writing the Revelation letter.

If the Sabbath day requirement was in Christ’s law then everyone today would be headed for eternal hell. Nobody, the Seventh Day Adventists, the Seventh Day Baptists, and even the Orthodox Jews, observes the Sabbath as required under the law. Some Orthodox Jews do hire Gentiles to do their cooking and serving food, etc., on Saturday, a practice which might be sinful within itself.. But whom among them never travels more than a Sabbath Day’s journey? Six tenths of a mile? How many would not reach down and pick up a scrap of paper on the floor and move it to a waste can?

Christians worship God on the first day of the week because we have the divine example of the inspired apostles. They were guided by the Holy Spirit. You can’t beat that with a stick. All readers are urged to read the following articles to help understand the differences in these laws.

Is a Criminal Law Degree Really Like in the Movies

Is a Criminal Law Degree Really Like in the Movies

A criminal law degree program teaches and develops your skills in:

Prosecuting/Defending persons charged with crime
Negotiating
Investigating
Counseling
Litigation matters

If you think you would like to represent the State or individuals in a wide range of crimes, if you are able to deal with people during the most stressful time in their life, if you dont mind carrying extremely large case loads and working in an overtaxed system then a criminal law degree may be just for you.

But beware, real life is usually very different then the movies!

Criminal Law Degree Courses

As a criminal lawyer you would deal with crimes that are felonies or more serious offenses as well as misdemeanors, less serious offenses. In most cases, felonies are punished by imprisonment of a year or more while misdemeanors are punished by less than a year.

During your training you will learn the basics of criminal law, criminal statutes, criminal law procedures, criminal law and courts, structure of federal, state and local criminal courts, law of crimes and defenses, trial procedures, purpose of punishment and the death penalty, procedural law surrounding detention, appellate procedures, trial advocacy, trial, sentencing and post conviction matters as well as procedures related to investigations, stops, searches, seizures, arrests, and interrogations.

Careers with a Criminal Law Degree

To succeed in this profession you have to think on your feet, make convincing presentations and negotiate skillfully. Much of your time will be spent in court, thus you must be willing to speak in front of a large audience and express your ideas clearly.

As a criminal lawyer you could work for governmental agencies, at the federal, state or local level or in small or single private practices. With this degree you could work as a prosecutor, on the defense side, or in a private practice firm. You could further specialize in the juvenile justice system, narcotics, special prosecutions as well as investigations and administrative services.

Use your time in law school wisely. Dont be driven by the portrayal of lawyers in the movies. Get your own hands on experience, observe what real life criminal lawyers do on a daily basis and then determine if its for you.

Often times, the most learning occurs outside of classroom, in summer internships or clinical placements. You will find that an internship may cement your desire to enter the field of criminal law, or it may open your eyes to new possibilities.

Importance of Law School Rankings

Many students opt for law school after completing graduation. And each student would like to get into the top law school. What is a top tier law school and who decides the rankings? There exist in the US a number of different law school ranking systems; the one that’s most widely referred to is the US News and World Report’s system. It bases its rankings on a number of criteria:Quality of the law school as assessed by peer institutions and practicing lawyers and judges; Selectivity or LSAT scores, mean undergrad GPA and the percentage of students accepted to the program; Placement Success in jobs following graduation and the number of students that successfully pass the bar examination. Faculty Resources as expenditures per student, the overall student to faculty ratio and the library resources available to students.According to A. Harrison Barnes, owner of bcgsearch.com, one of the most significant factors for determining the ranking of a law school is the percentage of minority students enrolled in the institution. The law schools play a significant role in integrating and bringing into the forefront, the minority section of the society into the public and commercial life of America. Like wise the number of faculties from the minority section of society also reflects admittance to the top of the legal career. Performance of the students at the under graduate level is an important factor that can effect the over all ranking of the law schools, avers A. Harrison Barnes. The common belief is that persons with higher marks at the graduation level will fare better in law schools than those with lower grades. The percentage of students receiving grants and aids are also an important determining factor. The quality of the faculty, teacher-student ratio, availability of books in the library, internet facilities are considered while ranking a law school. The total number of successive subscriptions in the school library speaks volumes about the quality of the library. More the number of successive subscriptions, the students have greater access to updated materials. The number of students who get into jobs through campus interviews also determines the ranks of the institutions, says A. Harrison Barnes. The students usually get placements within nine months of completing their graduation. Another factor that is important for ranking an institution is the number of students who clear the bar examination. The schools which meet all the above parameters are grouped into the grade one category, as per the CEO of bcgsearch.com, A. Harrison Barnes. The top 100 schools around the world fall in this category. The rest are grouped into the second, third and fourth tiers. A school must be recognized and accepted by the American Bar Association. Most of the students in these law schools must be American. Harrison Barnes points out that students passing out of elite law schools tend to get better placements. Anybody who dreams of getting into these elite institutions must try for an admission into the Ivy League schools. The ranking system in law schools has been subjected to criticism from various institutions. The American Bar Association (ABA) is completely against the system of grading. The Law School Admission Council is also completely against the system of grading. There have been several complaints filed by The Association of American Law Schools against the system of gradation. The system has been criticized for being ambiguous, unrealistic, generating profitable ventures that contradicts the US News and World Reports, says A. Harrison Barnes. The US News responded to these criticisms by coming up with explanations about their methodology for ranking together with the gradations. Law professors William Henderson and Andrew Morris criticized many aspects of the gradation system including their refusal to adopt better evaluation methods than the prevalent ones used by the US News. The professors further allege that the law schools obtain their US News ranking by acting on the employment data of their PG courses or on the selective nature of the applicants. They even go to the extent of saying that the ABA or The American Bar Association must exercise more power to advocate greater transparency in schools.Harrison Barnes has constantly emphasized the point that more than the academic grades and law school ranks, what counts is the work experience that you have gained over the years. Though grades are very important in the initial stages of a legal career, after working for 1 to 3 years, grades and rankings are relegated to a secondary position and what matters is the work experience gained.A number of law students have also criticized the gradation system in law schools. A. Harrison Barnes points out that most students find the grading system extremely unrealistic and misleading. For instance, according to National Law Journal surveys, the career placement options facing Vanderbilt, UCLA, and University of Texas graduates is just slightly inferior to Georgetown’s. The law students even seem to consider the top 18 schools equal to the bottom 14 schools. In sum, true success in your career depends on your ability and efficiency in work rather than law school rankings.

If You Remember Any Law, Then Remember This Law Segal’s

If You Remember Any Law, Then Remember This Law Segal’s Law

Segal’s Law says this:
A man with one watch always knows what time it is.A man with two watches is never sure.
Many have heard this before reading it here. What does it mean, though?
That was the goal I had in mind when I wrote THE MASTER KEY WORKBOOK (http://www.masterkeyworkbook.com). In a nut shell, it is this (at least in the context of this discussion): When we pursue more than one goal or aim, we rarely achieve either. Rather, we must narrow our focus and select one thing to accomplish and achieve.

All of us have talents and skills, wants and needs, goals and desires. That is normal that is what makes us a human being. If we look around us, though, and look at those who achieve and attain, we will notice a startling thing. That thing is the fact that those who attain massive success, achieve that success in one thing–one specific thing.
Bill Gates achieved his success in computer programs. Rush Limbaugh attained money and fame through radio. Tiger Woods mastered the game of golf and succeeded massively.
One thing. These people–and others like them–took one thing and ran with it. They ran with it until they achieved all of their goals.
Most of us fritter our time and talents by leaping from one toad stool to another. We never settle on any one. We jump around like lost frogs looking for the next fly to eat.
The smart frog, on the other hand, finds his place and lets the flies come to him. And come they do!
It has been postulated, and in my experience proven very true, that it takes ten years of doing something before any kind of success or mastery is to be attained. A person studying for a black belt in karate will study that long before they attain that vaunted level of skill. Microsoft went public as a company in 1986 he fame grew through the nineties, but not until the later half of that decade did he really become a household name.
It takes time and patience and persistence and more than a little perspiration to achieve a goal. What most find the most difficult, though, is finding that one thing to do that they love.
The greats were in many ways most fortunate because they found their passion early. Tiger Woods, Ludwig Von Beethoven, and other like them began studying their crafts while exceptionally young. Does that deny us from the race? Not at all. Einstein was 26 when he published his Special Theory of Relativity. Babe Ruth was older. Many CEOs and executives work many years through the ranks before they begin to see the fruits of their labors.
Sometimes it helps if you daydream a little. Where do you often go? When you realize that, then ask yourself if that is merely a fantasy or a true want–a true desire.
Life is to be enjoyed. We can only succeed at and get what we want with something that we love to do. Don’t fritter your life away. Reach inside of yourself and find your love, your passion. Find that one thing that you would look forward to doing every day.
Run with your dream else, your dreams will run from you.
Have fun…

Humanitarian Law

International Humanitarian Law
What is international humanitarian law?
The newsletter contains a brief description of the sources, content and scope of international humanitarian law.

International humanitarian law is a set of rules that seek, for humanitarian reasons, to limit the impact of armed conflict. It protects persons who are not or are not participating in hostilities, and limits the means and methods of warfare. International humanitarian law is also known as the law of war or the law of armed conflict.

International humanitarian law is part of international law, which is a set of rules governing relations between states. International law is contained in agreements between States – treaties or conventions – in customary law, which consist of State practice considered by them as legally binding, and general principles.

International humanitarian law applies to armed conflicts. It does not regulate whether a State may actually use force is governed by an important, but separate, part of international law set forth in the Charter of the United Nations.

Where international humanitarian law, originate?

International humanitarian law is based on the rules of ancient civilizations and religions warfare has always been subject to certain principles and practices.

Universal codification of international humanitarian law, began in the nineteenth century. Since then, States have agreed on a number of practical rules, based on bitter experience of modern war. These rules establish a clear balance between humanitarian concerns and military needs of the state. As the international community has grown, an increasing number of States have contributed to the development of these rules. International humanitarian law forms today a universal body of law.

The historical convergence between international humanitarian law and the laws of war

For most of the 20th century, international humanitarian law, or the “Geneva Act” differs from “Hague Law” or the laws of war proper. Hague Law “defines the rights and obligations of belligerents in the conduct of operations and limits the choice of means, with the injury.” In particular, it deals with the definition of combatants, establishes rules concerning the means and methods of warfare, but also addresses the issue of military objectives.

How To Use The Universal Law Of Attraction – Tips

How To Use The Universal Law Of Attraction – Tips To Manifest Your Desires Now!

When first introduced to the ideas and the theories behind the law of attraction, most people will naturally be a little bit skeptical at first. This is exactly how I felt, and most people are in the same camp. That’s okay. What you need to be able to do though, is to not allow your skepticism keep you from manifesting your desires because you ignore the basic principles that are pretty sound. Things like having an attitude of gratitude can help to cause a massive shift in how you feel and also in how you see the world.

We all live in the same world in one sense of the word. Yet, some people seem to be able to see OPPORTUNITY all around them and others seem to only see DESPAIR. You have to kind of make a conscious decision as to which kind of person that you WANT to be. After all, you cannot expect to manifest your desires using the law of attraction if you spend most of your time thinking about all of the things that you LACK, can you?

No. You need to be able to express gratitude for the things that you HAVE, however humble that might be.

Here are some tips to manifest your desires and help you understand how to use the law of attraction:

1. Write down on a clean sheet of paper the things that you DO have to be grateful for.

Even if all you have is a used car to get you to your job which you do not really like, you need to write these things down. When you do, and you let yourself keep coming up with little things here and there to be grateful for, you might be surprise at how many things that you really do have to be grateful for. If you have a lack of money, but you have a great group of friends or a supportive family, then you STILL have a lot. It causes a shift in how you see the world, and will help you to replace the despair with opportunity.

2. Educate yourself on things that can help you achieve greater prosperity.

One of the first things that I learned for myself was trading stocks. Now, this may not be for everybody, but what happens is, you begin to just see that there ARE many opportunities that are present that can help you to gain prosperity in or your life. There is a great wealth of knowledge in the books that are out there and available and you can use them to leverage yourself and gain the knowledge that you need to turn your life in the direction that YOU CHOOSE.

3. Finally, learn to embrace the challenge of taking chances.

It’s very rare for someone to make a massive shift in their overall life without taking some kind of risk. Whether it be financial or some other kind of risk, there has to be a time when you decide to take a chance on yourself. Otherwise, you will only have yourself to blame in the end, and that will not be any fun, will it?
